How to Join

To become a member of PRRA, download and print the application form, fill it out, and submit it with your program fee. The form includes a waiver of liability and statement of swimming ability, both of which must be signed prior to rowing. You can mail the form to our postal address or hand it to a club official at the PRRA boathouse.

Experienced rowers may choose any program, except that youth programs are restricted to rowers from 14 to 18 years of age. Beginners of all ages are required to pass a Learn to Row course, after which they may join the Community Rowing program for their first year.

Recreational Rowing $350 primary member

Competitive Rowing $425 primary member

Guests

Members are permitted to bring occasional guests to row, subject to approval from the coach or other program supervisor. The guest must submit a membership application form—without a program fee, but including the signed waiver of liability and statement of swimming ability—before rowing. A fee of $5 per guest per day will be assessed to the member.

Discounts

As indicated in the chart above, additional family members pay a reduced season fee. An additional family member is defined as an immediate relative living in the same household as the primary member.

A $50 discount is granted to applicants who choose to pay for two consecutive annual memberships in advance, with the second-year fee guaranteed not to increase.

Learn to Row graduates receive a 25% discount on the Community Rowing program in their first year.

Full-time coxswains receive a free membership. Members who participate in both rowing and coxing will receive a discount to be determined by the Membership Committee, up to a maximum of 50%.

Members signing up after August 15 pay 50% of the annual program fee. Storage fees may also be prorated on a case-by-case basis.

Notes

Fees are due by March 31, 2010 and are non-refundable. A fee of $20 will be assessed for returned checks.

Fees charged by rowing regattas are not included in the program fees listed above. Members will be required to pay these separate fees prior to the event.

Members are encouraged to volunteer occasionally throughout the year to help with maintenance and improvements to our rowing facility. We also encourage you to take part in the club's committees.

Membership Policies

  • All members are required to review and comply with the safety rules of US Rowing and PRRA at all times.
  • Members must conduct themselves in a civil and responsible manner toward all others.
  • Failure to adhere to the rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action as outlined in the PRRA Constitution, including termination of rowing privileges.
  • An Association Council governs the PRRA. No individual member or group of members may obligate or represent the PRRA without the express consent of the Association Council.
  • All members must submit a current signed waiver and pay all membership fees in full before being allowed to row.
  • Competitive rowers must participate in an escrow account system, maintained by PRRA, for the payment of race and trailer fees. Escrow payments must be made prior to race entry in order to maintain a positive balance at all times.
  • Members may not use privately owned equipment without the express permission of the owner.
  • Priority for use of PRRA equipment is given to currently scheduled programs.
