Team Woz: Fundraising in aid of Helen Woznack
Please support Team Woz
On July 31st, Helen Woznack, a beloved and accomplished Passaic River rower, coach, and coxswain, was seriously injured in a skydiving accident. With head and spinal injuries, Helen's ability to move, talk, or function on her own was in doubt.
Helen has always been a lively person and a force in the rowing world. She has rowed for PRRA since 2006 and won gold at more than a dozen regattas, including the FISA World Masters, US Masters Nationals, and Canadian Henley. Helen is the head coach at Ridgewood High School and has also coxed the Nereid Women's Masters 8+ at the Head of the Charles for four years.
Bringing an athlete's determination to her therapy, Helen is making a miraculous recovery. Now walking on her own, she was recently released from a rehabilitation center. She even hopes to attend this year's Head of the Charles as a spectator.
The challenge now is that Helen's medical costs far exceed her insurance coverage. The co-payment for her stay in the rehab center alone is about $10,000.
The Passaic River Rowing Association, Nereid Boat Club, and Ridgewood Crew have set out to raise $17,000 for Helen by rowing in her honor at this year's Head of the Charles Regatta. Boats will be competing as Team Woznack in the Women's Club Eights, Master Eights, and Youth Eights.
Our fundraising goal is ambitious, but we're sure we can do it with your help. Please support this effort!
