The Passaic River Rowing Association offers a variety of options for youth rowers. All programs are held at the PRRA Boathouse in Riverside Park. 797 Riverside Avenue, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071. The Passaic River Rowing Association is proud to offer youth rowing to our local community. PRRA offers youth rowing to Bergen County residents and beyond. Our youth program is open to kids in 7th through 12th grade. Due to size requirements to move and use the equipment, 6th graders will be permitted at the coaches discretion. The youth program is open to novices through experienced athletes. Program rates include coaching and race entry fees. The team is coached by the Head Coach for PRRA, Fabian Cortes.

Fall Season
Youth Team
This program is for all rowers from beginner to competitive.
Program Dates: Monday August 26th through Friday November 1st
- MON/TUES/THU/FRI 3:30-6:30pm
- SAT AND/OR SUN (depends on racing schedule) 8-11am
Anticipated Races: Kings Head, Head of the Christina, Head of the Hudson, Head of the Passaic, Overpeck Fall Classic, Head of the Schuylkill (subject to change)

Winter Season
The winter youth team is designed to start and/or continue athletes rowing training throughout the winter through coached lifting and erging sessions. 3 indoor erg races and race shirt included in registration. Our youth program is open to kids in 7th through 12th grade. Due to size requirements to move and use the equipment, 6th graders will be permitted at the coaches discretion. The program will run 4 days a week Monday through Thursday, 4-6 pm. Scholarships are available, please check out the information down below!

Summer Season
Youth should only sign up for one program for the summer season. If you are unsure which program your child should attend, please contact row@prra.org so we can assist you in placing your child in the correct program.
Competitive
This program is geared to students looking to row at the next level. This is a competitive program and attendance is required in order to be able to enter races. Sessions will be geared toward racing. Boats will be created by ability level and erg testing results.
Program Dates: June 13 – July 27, Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 9:00 am (Athletes to report at 5:45 am)*
Anticipated Races: Independence Day, Philly Youth, Overpeck Summer Sprints
Price: $1,500 (Race fees and racing shirt included)
(Canadian Henley is a possibility, athletes will be selected at the coaches discretion, additional fees apply)

Intermediate
Developmental for novice/intermediate rowers, some rowing experience required, to provide a relaxed learning environment where they can prepare for higher level programs by improving skills and experience. Racing is optional and determined on rowing ability and attendance.

Youth Learn to Row/Novice
For rowers 7th grade through 17 years old. Basic LTR sessions where new rowers will be introduced to on and off water rowing, as well as further developing novice.
Program Dates: June 13 – July 27, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9:00 am – 11:30 am*
Price: $850 (Shirt included)

Youth Learn-to-Row
This program runs weekly, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This is a one week program priced at $200. The athlete will be integrated with our novice for the duration of the program and guided by our coaching staff. After the one week camp, if the athlete chooses to continue with the full program, the $200 will be applied towards that balance.

Email row@prra.org before purchasing your program(s) so we can confirm and apply the discount. Discounts/youth scholarship may not be stacked.
Athletes only have access to cubbies at the boathouse and therefore should be careful with leaving any personal items, books, clothing, etc. Students may not be able to gain entry into the boathouse after practice as minors are not eligible to have a key of their own.
