





The Passaic River Rowing Association offers a variety of options for youth rowers. Check out the listings below to see which program is a good fit for you and your child.
Our youth program is open to kids in 7th through 12th grade. Due to size requirements to move and use the equipment, 6th graders will be permitted at the coaches’ discretion. The youth program is open to novices through experienced athletes. Program rates include coaching and race entry fees. The team is coached by PRRA’s Head Coach, Fabian Cortes.

Spring Season
Program Dates: March 9 – May 22, 2026
Competitive – 5 day program
Schedule: Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri 3:30-6:30 PM, Sat 8-11 AM

Novice/Intermediate – 3 day program

Summer Season
Youth should only sign up for one program for the summer season. If you are unsure which program your child should attend, please contact row@prra.org so we can assist you in placing your child in the correct program.
Program Dates: June 8 – August 7
Competitive
This program is geared to students looking to row at the next level. This is a competitive program and attendance is required in order to be able to enter races. Sessions will be geared toward racing. Boats will be created by ability level and erg testing results.
Schedule: Mon-Fri 6–9 AM*
Athletes are to report to the boathouse at 5:45 am

Intermediate
Developmental for novice/intermediate rowers, some rowing experience required, to provide a relaxed learning environment where they can prepare for higher level programs by improving skills and experience. Racing is optional and determined on rowing ability and attendance.
Program Dates: June 8 – August 7, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 am – 11:30 am (Athletes to report at 8:45 am)*

Youth Learn to Row/Novice
For rowers 7th grade through 17 years old. Basic LTR sessions where new rowers will be introduced to on and off water rowing, as well as further developing novice.
Program Dates: June 13 – July 27, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9:00 am – 11:30 am*

Fall Season
This program is for all rowers from beginner to competitive.
Program Dates: August 31 – November 6, 2026

Winter Season
The winter youth team is designed to start and/or continue athletes rowing training throughout the winter through coached lifting and erging sessions. 3 indoor erg races and race shirt included in registration. Our youth program is open to kids in 7th through 12th grade. Due to size requirements to move and use the equipment, 6th graders will be permitted at the coaches discretion. The program will run 4 days a week Monday through Thursday, 4-6 pm. Scholarships are available, please check out the information down below!

Youth Learn-to-Row
This program runs weekly, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This is a one week program priced at $200. The athlete will be integrated with our novice for the duration of the program and guided by our coaching staff. After the one week camp, if the athlete chooses to continue with the full program, the $200 will be applied towards that balance.

Collegiate Summer Program
We offer memberships between June 1st to August 31st that are intended as an abbreviated club membership to supplement your college’s program during summer break.
Collegiate Club
This program gives access to supervised Club Masters on-water sessions three times a week, as well as use of the boathouse team room (locker rooms, ergs and weightlifting equipment). Athletes are only permitted to row during the scheduled coached sessions.

Schedule: Mondays 5:30-7pm, Thursdays 7:00-8:30am, Saturdays 8:00-9:30am

Collegiate Recreational Membership – Add-On
This is an add-on to the collegiate club program which gives athletes independent access to row during boathouse hours of operation.

Competitive Masters Membership
Pending coach approval, collegiate members may apply to join the Competitive Masters program for the summer, which would offer increased coaching and the opportunity to compete. Please reach out to headcoach@prra.org to discuss this opportunity.

Family Discount – 25% discount after the first full priced program is paid.
Email row@prra.org before purchasing your program(s) so we can confirm and apply the discount. Discounts cannot be combined – if a child receives a scholarship, the family discount will not be applied to that child.
