The Passaic River Rowing Association offers membership options to accommodate all levels of rowing experience, from the beginner to the advanced rower. We have youth programs for kids in middle school through high school with opportunities to train at a competitive level, along with multiple masters-level membership options for adults.
If you’re ready to sign up, head to Regatta Central to complete your registration. All members should confirm that they know how to swim and complete the required SafeSport training via the US Rowing website. To join Passaic River Rowing Association through US Rowing, use the club code: XK7XN
Note: Our membership calendar year runs from March 15th through March 14th of the following year.
Masters
At the masters level, members begin with a base membership which allows access to boats during supervised club sessions, three days per week. Base membership also gives access to our boathouse during open hours. In addition, interested rowers can add a recreational membership, which allows for unsupervised use of club boats, or competitive membership, which comes with up to five days per week of coached practices. To ensure all rowers’ safety, recreational and competitive membership require a coach’s approval.
For rowers with their own boats, there is limited indoor or outdoor space available for storage. Club membership is not required to use your own equipment. Email facilities@prra.org for more information.
Taking a break but want to keep in touch? We have a social membership which allows you to attend any of PRRA’s social events and continue to support the club when you’re not on the water.
Youth & College
At PRRA, our youth programs are open to kids from 7th through 12th grade. Due to size requirements, 6th graders are permitted to join at the coaches’ discretion. In accordance with US Rowing safety guidelines, no one under the age of 18 is allowed to row without supervision.
New rowers are encouraged to take a Youth Learn to Row course, which gives access to novice team practices for one week, after which the cost of the course can be applied toward that season’s training program.
During the fall and spring seasons, practices take place five days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 PM, and Saturday from 8 to 11 AM. These practices cater to all levels from novice to competitive, and athletes will have the opportunity to represent the team in local and national regattas.
Summer training will be split into novice, intermediate, and competitive levels. Novices can attend three practices per week (Monday-Wednesday at 9 AM), intermediate will practice four days a week (Monday-Thursday at 9 AM), and competitive is required to attend practice five days per week (Monday-Friday at 6 AM). Intermediate rowers have the option to enter regattas with the coaches’ approval, and the competitive team will be training with the goal of racing in late summer and fall.
College rowers are encouraged to continue training in the summer through our Collegiate Summer program, which gives access to supervised club masters on-water sessions as well as ergs and weights. This option is valid from June 1st to August 31st and is intended as an abbreviated club membership to supplement your college’s program during summer break.
